ALCOHOL CONTENT: 14,5%
VARIETY: 100% Tempranillo
LOOK: Clear and shiny. Intense garnet colour.
SMELL: Intense on the nose with aromas of ripe fruit. Slight touch of liquorice with spicy notes from the ageing in American oak.
TASTE: Sweet entry of ripe fruit, meaty wine, well-integrated acidity, highlighting rounded tannins that show good volume and persistence in the mouth. Aromas of liquorice can be appreciated in the aftertaste.
SERVING TEMPERATURE: 12 ºC–14 ºC.
CONSUMPTION: Ready for drinking, it will continue to develop in the bottle. Decant 30 minutes before serving to oxygenate. It may contain sediments as it has not undergone any filtration process to get a more natural wine, but this does not affect the quality of the wine.
PAIRINGS: Ideal for roasted lamb, chuletillas al sarmiento (grilled lamb chops), oxtail, suckling pig and hard cheeses.
VINEYARD AND PRODUCTION
DESCRIPTION: The winery’s own vineyards located within the municipal boundaries of Roa and La Horra, at an altitude of more than 811 metres.
SURFACE AREA: 164 hectares in total.
AGE: Average of 25 years.
SOIL: Sandy loam.
climaTE: Continental Atlantic, dry and windy, with very harsh, long and cold winters and short, dry and hot summers. An area with an annual rainfall of 400 mm, with two clearly differentiated areas: one on sloping ground with more sunshine, which results in earlier ripening, and another on flat ground, with less sunshine and slower ripening.
AGEING: Aged 24 months in American oak barrels and 12 months in the bottle.
